Your Body And Antioxidant Foods

Even though a lot of people don’t actually realize it, a lot of antioxidant foods that we consume are from vegetables.  Vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, and peppers are all excellent choices with some great benefits for your body.  When consuming vegetables, you should always go for those that are rich in color, as they are high in what is known as phytonutrients.

Phytonutrients are nutrients found in the skins of several fruits and vegetables, which give the food color as well as flavor and scent.  Phytonutrients are quite simply the best types of antioxidant foods that you can find anywhere.  If you are looking for a supplement value, the coq10 offers you a high level of antioxidant value.

Although fruits and vegetables are the best sources for antioxidants, the problem with them is that they are produced by the use of chemical herbicides, pesticides, and different types of fertilizers.  Over the years, studies have shown that fruits and vegetables which are organically grown are high in antioxidants, and boast a much higher concentration than those that have been produced commercially.

In the busy world of today, it can be very tough to eat like we should, nor can we eat organic fruits and vegetables all the time.  If you can’t or don’t have access to organic fruits or other sources of antioxidant foods, you should look into nutritional supplements that offer you the phytonutrients you need in your diet.

Supplements that contain phytonutrients do have advantages when compared to certain fruits, such as carrots - which can elevate your blood sugar level to a very high level.  Phytonutrients found in supplements are the extract of pigments where nutrients are concentrated, meaning that they draw the best from antioxidant foods, leaving the calories and sugar behind.

Don’t get the wrong idea here, fruits and vegetables are indeed good for you.  They are high in antioxidants, although those that are produced commercially generally come with chemicals and such that aren’t so good for you.  Canned fruits and vegetables come with high levels of sugars and calories, which antioxidant supplements don’t have.  The supplements offer you the levels you need, without any chemicals, sugars, or calories.  This way, you don’t have to worry about consuming anything that isn’t good for you.

No matter how you look at it, healthy eating for your body starts and end with foods that contain antioxidants.  There are several types of foods that contain antioxidants, although fruits and vegetables contain the most amounts.  Steak and meat are also great sources of antioxidants, along with other great benefits, such as protein.  Anytime you can’t get foods that contain antioxidants - you can count on supplements to deliver the amount you need to stay healthy.

Constructive Ways To Spend Your Time

If you’ve suddenly found yourself with a plethora of free time, you may be wondering the ways you should use that time. And the best way to spend free time is by doing things which are constructive in your life.

Learn A New Skill

Unfortunately, sitting around binging on Netflix is not likely to teach you anything new. Instead, you should find a skill which you have always been interested in but have never had the time to learn. For example, you could learn a language, how to play an instrument, or maybe how to cook—if you don’t already know how. All of these are skills which could be useful in your life that will help your brain to grow as you learn them.

Redo Your Space

How long has it been since you have cleaned and organized your space? Or maybe you’ve seen some DIY crafts online that you’ve been itching to make for your home. These are both extremely constructive ways to spend your time. This is because living in a space which is cleaned and organized, will save you time when you are madly searching for something later. And crafts to decorate your home can help instill feelings of pride as well as relieve stress.

Volunteer For A Cause

For those who have never volunteered, giving your time to a cause you care about is an extremely rewarding experience that can really help with personal and professional growth. Of course you need to find a cause you are passionate about first, but once you do, you will likely find that you enjoy volunteering so much that you forget that you aren’t being paid for it!

Make Financial Changes

This may sound daunting, but what this means is doing things which are good for your financial life that you usually put off because you don’t have time. For instance, if you’ve been meaning to cancel Netflix, but you keep putting off calling them to do so, it’s time to do that now. This could also mean taking the time to switch cell phone providers because one company is cheaper than the other.

Both of these tasks aren’t ones which you necessarily want to be doing, so you probably often push them to the back burner, but now that you have free time, it’s time to address them. You’ll feel much better after you completed them.

Read

Reading? You’re probably wondering just how that is considered constructive, but it is. Reading helps reduce stress, pain, and lowers your heart rate. It also has been shown to improve vocabulary, writing skills, and relationships with others, so there is no reason not to pick up a book when you have a little free time! You will be most constructive if you pick a non-fiction subject to read about, but don’t be afraid to mix in a fiction book every now and then for fun.

Get A Side Gig

Want to turn your free time into money? Then find a side gig! In this gig society, the variety and type of side jobs available are numerous, and they can fit into any schedule you desire—so there is no reason for you not to have one if you want to make a little extra cash!

In conclusion, these aren’t the only constructive ways to spend your time, but they are some of the most constructive activities you can engage in.  Whether you follow only a few, or all, of these suggestions, you will certainly be more constructive than you were when you were watching TV all afternoon. And you may just be surprised by all that you can accomplish in your free time.

Letting Go Of Stress: Spend Time Just Being

In the modern day, there is constant pressure to do more, see more, and be more. But sometimes, you need to realize that it is time to let go of stress. And instead of packing every minute of your life full of activity, it’s okay to spend a little time just being.

Take A Deep Breath

People often forget the simple power of taking a deep breath. And even if your schedule is packed full, and you don’t have time to take a relaxation break just to be you, there is almost always time in your day for a deep breathing break. According to studies mentioned in The Daily Meditation, deep breathing is not only an essential part of living, but also of maintaining mental health.

So, if you can, try to spend a few minutes a day deep breathing. And when you feel scared or stressed, take a moment to breathe deeply here too, it’ll help to clear your mind and face the problem head on.

Spend Time In Nature

This one is an easy one. Next time you have some free time, head out and enjoy it in nature. And this doesn’t mean you have to do anything strenuous. Spending time in nature could mean simply sitting on a bench in your backyard.

Don’t make any plans, simply resolve to exist in nature for a little while. This will help you to relieve stress and let go of thoughts which may be bothering you. You’ll be surprised how much better you’ll feel once you’re in nature.

Try To Laugh

According to Psychology Today, laughter is one of the best medicines there is. It can help reduce pain, and discomfort. It can also improve performance in your professional life as it increases creativity. And of course, it reduces stress. No matter where you are in your life, you should always find time to laugh.

Sometimes, the funniest moments are the unplanned ones, so don’t be afraid if you have some free time just to spend it sitting around and talking with friends. You never know what hilarity might occur!

Re-Evaluate Your Schedule

Now that you know all the things to do when you have a few minutes to let go of stress, it’s time to clear out your schedule so you have time to do those things. First of all, if you are constantly going from one activity to another with no breaks, something has got to go. Prioritize the items on your list, then get rid of the activity you care about least. Although this may be tough, if you can’t find a way to lower your stress levels you will quickly reach burn out, then it won’t matter whether you’ve had time for yourself or not.

Just Say ‘No’

Now that you have a little time to yourself, it may be tempting when a friend asks to hang out during that time. As hard as it is, you need to learn to say no. You need time for you in your life, and although friends are important, they are not as important as your own health. So if a friend tries to encroach on your spending time in nature, just tell them no and that you will find time to spend with them another day.

All in all, the best way to let go of stress is by evaluating your schedule, and learning to say no to things which may over-extend you. Then you need to make an effort to spend time breathing deeply, relaxing in nature, and laughing, in order to life a fulfilling, low stress life.

Are You Paying Attention To Life's Lessons?

Life is an endless stream of data and information. When you break down your daily experiences, everything you learn from what happened serves as information you can use in the future. Often, buried in the information we glean from these experiences are life lessons.

When something happens to you, either good or bad, are you really paying attention to the lessons found in the information from what happened? If not, you may need to start looking closer and analyzing more carefully to take the important lessons away from your daily life.

There are some “universal” life lessons that apply to virtually everyone–by paying attention to the details, you can learn these lessons earlier and quicker, saving yourself from excessive trouble.

Why are life lessons important to learn?

Life lessons serve as important reminders for your future self. Once you take away the information from something you’ve experienced and take time to reflect on it, process it, and determine the important takeaways, you can use that knowledge to protect and prepare yourself in the future.

Life lessons are also related to the negativity bias. Humans have an innate mental function called a negativity bias–this means that human beings remember negative or bad events very well. The information they recall from the negative event is so well-remembered because their minds want them to remember it so they can avoid a similar situation in the future.

For example, as a small child, you may have ignored your parents’ warnings to not touch the hot stove. After touching it and burning your hand, that painful memory stuck with you. Years later, your negativity bias reminds you why touching hot items is a bad idea, causing you to avoid touching the stove (or anything else too hot) directly ever again.

However, life lessons aren’t just for keeping us physically safe–they can keep us safe and well informed in lots of different ways! If you aren’t paying attention to them, you could be missing out on opportunities or leading a life that could be improved with some simple changes.

How can I begin to take note of life’s lessons?

Missing an opportunity to learn a life lesson has one positive side: If you don’t learn the lesson, you’ll likely make the same mistake again. Making the same mistake twice (or even thrice) isn’t ideal, but it gives you another opportunity to analyze the situation and determine what needs to be changed for the future.

One of the best ways to identify a lesson life is trying to teach you is to watch out for any patterns that keep happening in your life.

These patterns could be linked to a variety of things, including:

● Finances

● Health

● Relationships

● Career

● Education

● ….and many more!

For example, consider the finances option. Let’s pretend that you continue coming up short for rent money at the beginning of each month. This has happened nearly every month since you moved into your new apartment. Because this keeps happening so regularly, it constitutes a pattern.

Now that you’ve established the existence of a pattern, consider why that pattern keeps repeating. Often, these patterns cycle through a similar chain of events. For example:

1. You realize you’re going to be short around £100 for rent

2. You look back in your bank records

3. You notice that you’re spending more money on payday for fun extras like going out with friends or new clothes

….and just like that, you’ve identified your problem! At this point, you can determine which behaviours need to change to fix the problem. Often, these behaviour changes highlight an important life lesson you can carry forward. In this case, that life lesson could be interpreted as “take care of responsibilities and obligations before having fun with money.”
